Testing Procedure for Sharp Cusp Tester:

1. Adjust the cusp tester program:
   • Rotate the loose ring clockwise.
   • Turn the test cap clockwise until the red indicator light turns on.
   • Slowly turn the test cap counterclockwise until the indicator light just goes out.
   • Rotate the test cap forward and backward to find the exact position where the indicator light lights up.
   • Align the scale line marked on the lock ring with one of the scale lines on the test cap.
   • Turn the test cap 5 grids counterclockwise (each grid represents the distance between two short lines on the cap).
   • Tighten the locking ring until it is close to the tail cap.
2. Perform the cusp test:
   • Place the tip into the measuring slot of the cusp tester.
   • Apply a force of 4.5 N (equivalent to 1 lb) to the object being tested.
   • If the indicator light turns on, the object has a sharp point and fails the test.
3. Judgment Criteria:
   • If the indicator light is on, the product is considered non-conforming due to a sharp point.

How to Use and Understand the Sharp Cusp Tester:

• Place the sharp cusp tester on the accessible part of the toy and check if the sharp point can be inserted to the specified depth.
• Apply an external force of 1 lb to the object to trigger the indicator light. If it lights up, the cusp is considered sharp.
• Wooden thorns in wooden toys are especially dangerous and must not be present in any toy.
• Before each test, adjust the sensor head as required to ensure accurate and sensitive readings.
• To adjust the tester, first loosen the lock ring, then rotate it to expose the calibration reference scale. Turn the measurement cover clockwise until the indicator light flashes, then turn it counterclockwise to align with the micrometer mark. Finally, tighten the lock ring to secure the test cover.

Age Limit and Testing Requirements:

• Under 36 months: Toys must not have any sharp cusps.
• 37 months to 96 months: Functional sharp points are allowed only if clearly labeled with warning instructions. Non-functional sharp points are not permitted.
