Samsung Electronics Li Xiang conceives to establish a new group headquarters

According to recent reports from South Korean media, Li Zaiyu, the vice president of Samsung Electronics, is reportedly considering the establishment of a new group headquarters. Since the dissolution of the Future Strategic Office at the end of February this year, Samsung is expected to introduce a new group operation command structure after eight months of planning and preparation.

On October 15, senior executives within Samsung revealed that the company sees a need for an agency capable of shaping its overall business strategy and managing operations across its various subsidiaries. However, it has been noted that Li Zaiyu does not intend to recreate a downsized version of the former Future Strategic Office.

One executive explained, “In Other words, Li Zaiyu is not looking to create another high-level but ineffective organization like the previous Future Strategic Office.” This suggests a shift in approach, aiming for a more streamlined and functional leadership structure.

Analysts believe that Li Zaiyu’s sudden push for a centralized command structure stems from the severe leadership vacuum that has emerged following the absence of key business leaders. A source close to Samsung stated, “Li Zaiyu believes that the only way to fill this leadership gap is by overhauling and improving the existing system.”

This move could signal a broader transformation within Samsung's corporate governance, focusing on greater efficiency, accountability, and long-term strategic direction. With the tech giant facing increasing competition and internal challenges, such a restructuring may be essential for maintaining its global leadership position.
