According to recent reports from South Korean media, Li Zaiyu, the vice president of Samsung Electronics, is reportedly working on a plan to establish a new group headquarters. Since the dissolution of the Future Strategic Office at the end of February this year, Samsung is expected to launch a new group operation command structure after eight months. This move comes as part of an effort to restructure and streamline decision-making processes across the company.
On October 15, senior Samsung executives revealed that the company needs an agency responsible for shaping its overall business strategy and coordinating operations among its various subsidiaries. However, Li Zaiyu has made it clear that he does not intend to recreate a downsized version of the previous Future Strategic Office. Instead, he is looking for a more effective and accountable structure.
One executive stated, “In Other words, Li Zaiyu does not plan to create another high-level but ineffective organization like the former Future Strategic Office.†The goal, according to insiders, is to build a more dynamic and responsive leadership framework that can drive long-term growth and stability.
Analysts believe that Li Zaiyu’s sudden push for a new group command stems from the severe leadership vacuum that has emerged following the absence of top business leaders. A source within Samsung explained, “Li Zaiyu believes that the only way to fill this leadership gap is through systemic improvements and stronger internal governance.â€
This restructuring effort reflects Samsung’s broader strategy to adapt to changing market conditions and maintain its competitive edge in the global tech industry. With increased pressure from rivals and evolving consumer demands, the need for a more cohesive and efficient leadership structure has never been more critical.
