Hello everyone, I'm still a 20-year-old guy from Wuxi. Today I was working on repairing a 32-inch LCD TV with a big screen. The problem was diagnosed as a faulty light bar. Instead of going online to look for solutions, I decided to try something simple. I used a 24V LED strip that I had lying around and divided it into six segments to fit inside the TV. However, since it's an integrated board, just connecting the 24V power directly would cause damage. So I needed a better way to control the power.
After some thinking, I found an old 12V relay from a rice cooker. The relay has four pins: one ground, one connected to the 12V screen voltage (since this is the only voltage controlled by the switch), and two more for VCC in and VCC out. By using the relay, I could trigger the 24V power through the switch, which allowed the light bar to turn on properly. The brightness is exactly the same as before, so it works perfectly now.
I’m not sure if this is the best solution, but it worked for me. It’s a bit of a DIY hack, but sometimes that’s the only way when you don’t have the right parts. I’ve attached some photos of the setup and the components I used. Let me know if you have any suggestions or better ideas!
