Hello everyone, I'm a 20-year-old guy from Wuxi. Today I'm working on repairing a 32-inch LCD TV. It had a backlight issue, so I decided to fix it myself instead of buying a new one. I was too lazy to order a replacement LED strip online, so I grabbed a 24V LED soft light strip and cut it into six segments to fit inside the TV. However, since the board is integrated, the 24V power supply is always on, which could be dangerous if not controlled properly.
To solve this, I took a 12V relay from an old rice cooker. The relay has four pins: one ground, one connected to the 12V screen voltage (which is controlled by the switch), and two for VCC in and VCC out. This way, the relay can be activated through the switch, allowing the 24V LED strip to turn on only when needed. The brightness after installation is exactly the same as before, and everything works smoothly now.
I tried to take some photos of the process, but the image links are empty for now. I'll update them later once I get the chance. If you have any suggestions or want to see more details, feel free to leave a comment. This project was fun and cost-effective, and I'm happy with the result.
