Littelfuse's new high-temperature Alternistor triac simplifies thermal management and suppresses high surges

Littelfuse , Inc., a global leader in circuit protection, today announced two new high-temperature Alternistor triacs , the latest addition to the company's thyristor portfolio. The 16AQJxx16xHx series and 25AQJxx25xHx series have a maximum junction temperature of 150°C and are designed for AC switches to help circuit designers cope with overheating in AC power control applications with limited or no heat dissipation. With high peak, single cycle AC current pulse ratings, it withstands higher inrush currents in heater and motor control applications.

Applications for the QJxx16xHx series and QJxx25xHx series of high temperature Alternistor triacs include:

·The heater control of the coffee machine

· Instant water heater and infrared heater

·AC solid state relay

· Incandescent and LED lighting dimmers

· Motor speed control for kitchen appliances, power tools, etc.

·Compressor motor control in light industrial applications

The QJxx16xHx series and QJxx25xHx series of high temperature Alternistor triacs have the following key advantages:

The 150°C maximum junction temperature simplifies thermal management, especially for applications with limited or no heat dissipation.

• With a 200A/250 AITSM rating to withstand higher inrush currents in heater or motor control applications.

• Mechanically and thermally stable TO-220/263 (16A and 25A) and TO-218 (25A) clip-on connectors provide improved field reliability compared to wire-wound packages.

• Internally isolated TO-220 and TO-218 packages provide better thermal dissipation and higher insulation voltage.

QJxx16xHx series and QJxx25xHx series high temperature Alternistor triacs are available in TO-220 (isolated or non-isolated), TO-263 (D2-PAK), TO-218AC (isolated) and TO-218X (isolated) packages to 500 Only tubular packages (50 per tube) or 500 cartridges are available for sale.
