AVX provides switching power supply (SMPS) capacitors for military and aerospace applications

AVX, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has introduced new SMPS capacitors featuring BX technology with X7R dielectric. These capacitors are available in 25V, unpackaged versions and are designed for horizontal stacking, making them ideal for high-reliability applications. The newly released components have been qualified for T-Class MIL-PRF-49470, expanding AVX's portfolio of QPL-compliant BX-capable SMPS capacitors. This includes T-class options at 25V, 50V, and 100V, both unpackaged and packaged, specifically for space applications.

Additionally, AVX offers B-class qualifications for military, aerospace, and harsh environment applications, including 25V, 50V, and 100V packaged and unpackaged components under DSCC 87106 standards. Their B and T grade SMPS capacitors support capacitances ranging from 1.5μF to 390μF, with voltage ratings suitable for operation between -55°C and +125°C. These capacitors are widely used in input/output filtering and high-capacity storage across various sectors such as military defense systems, space and satellite communications, telecommunications infrastructure, DC/DC power converters, medical electronics, industrial equipment, oil drilling, and hybrid electric vehicles.

To help engineers design more efficiently, AVX offers SpiCalci 8.0 SPICE modeling software. This tool allows designers to validate circuits before simulating frequency performance curves and integrating data from specific AVX components. It is compatible with all BX-capable SMPS capacitors that meet MIL-PRF-49470 QPL specifications, enabling accurate and reliable circuit design processes.
