Apple still does not give up! Transmitting joint TSMC R & D Micro LED

Apple recently introduced its first iPhone featuring an OLED display, but the company has long been focused on developing Micro LED technology. Reports indicate that Apple is collaborating with TSMC to push forward research and development in this area, with the goal of eventually replacing OLED screens in the coming years.
Rumors suggest Apple is working closely with TSMC to advance Micro LED technology. Micro LED screens offer significant improvements over both OLED and LCD technologies, including higher brightness, better color saturation, and improved energy efficiency. However, recent reports have indicated that Apple is reducing its Micro LED R&D team in Taiwan, signaling potential challenges in the mass production of this technology. Despite this, the company announced earlier this year that it would move into pilot production.
Apple's first use of an OLED screen marks a milestone in its display technology journey. According to insiders, the reduction in the team size is due to the completion of the current research phase, and future work will be conducted in the U.S. This shift also reflects Apple’s strategy to collaborate with TSMC in addressing manufacturing challenges. Additionally, Apple is working with TSMC to develop silicon-based applications that could help overcome bottlenecks in the large-scale transfer of LED chips. Apple remains highly optimistic about the potential of Micro LED. The company acquired LuxVue, a leading Micro LED specialist, back in 2014. Similar to how OLED was first introduced in the Apple Watch, Micro LED may follow a similar path before making its way to iPhones. Some analysts had previously speculated that this year’s Apple Watch might feature the technology, but it now seems likely that it will be delayed until next year.
