US scientists reveal the culprit of LED bulb light decline

According to Phys.org, the latest findings from Rensselaer Polytechnic researchers will unveil the long-standing cause of the long-standing LED bulb "LED droop" phenomenon. The discovery is expected to lead the LED lighting industry to break through major bottlenecks.

The "light-effect reduction phenomenon" is a phenomenon in which the luminous efficiency of the LED is reduced by nearly 20% when the input of the chip is large. This phenomenon was first reported in 1999 and has been an important obstacle to the development of the LED lighting industry.

According to the report, in a newly published paper, the university's researchers confirmed that a phenomenon called "electronic leakage" is the main culprit in the decline of LED bulbs.

The researchers said the findings provide the first comprehensive model to explore the "declining light efficiency" and will lead new technologies to solve this problem in the future.

For a long time, researchers and LED manufacturers have been working to reduce the loss of LED "light reduction", but did not really lead to the real cause behind this phenomenon.
