The application of LED light sources has opened up a new path for miniaturization of the fuselage. Because the LED light source is small in size and has many display technology advantages, it is more suitable for developing compact projectors and even originals, so that the user's projection is more "contained" and "liberalized". LEDs are used for projection, which not only increases the lifespan, but also changes the structure of the projector. Since the heat dissipation requirement is reduced and the optical path system is shortened, the heat dissipation and noise are better.
However, due to technical limitations, the brightness of the LED light source limits its scope of use. Although the first physical LED projector appeared in 2005, the brightness of the LED light source has been greatly developed, and theoretically, the brightness of 3000 lumens can be achieved. However, for large-scale conferences, projection buildings and other engineering projectors, the brightness of LED light source projectors is far from enough, and the hybrid light source of LED+ lasers has gradually entered people's eyes.
The hybrid light source allows the LEDs and lasers to perform their respective functions, showing the most energy efficient parts. In 2010, CASIO first introduced a projector with a hybrid light source. After that, Optoma, ViewSonic and other manufacturers followed suit, and the industry set off a boom in hybrid light sources. The hybrid light source allows the projector to maintain a long-lasting environmentally-friendly performance while significantly increasing brightness to a maximum of 3,500 lumens. The energy-saving effect is much better than pure LED. However, the industry believes that the brightness is still not enough. The three primary color laser is the most ideal light source solution for achieving high brightness. However, some key technical problems have to be solved urgently over the years. For example, the cost is too high and the industrialization is difficult. Now only Barco, Christie, NEC, Sony and others launched its prototype of a three-primary laser projector.
In the future, laser technology will be more mature, and its long life and long life are the biggest advantages compared with traditional light bulbs. Even in the 50,000 lumens of brightness, it can guarantee a lifetime of 10,000 hours, which is beyond the reach of light bulbs. Therefore, it is in the high-end engineering and cinema market. The prospects are very promising. Hybrid light source can be regarded as a useful supplement to current LED and laser technology, but its color is not as good as LED, the brightness is not as good as laser, neither side is pleased, the future prospect is not optimistic. Therefore, from the characteristics of the new light source, the LED light source projector that can be selected by the user is limited to the mobile small projection market such as portable micro-projection, business education and home theater.
