Last time, my desktop story didn't seem complete enough. Even now, I'm still unsure who the prizes should go to. Writing overtime every day has made me feel like I’m losing track of what’s important. I’ve decided to take action and add a few new items to my desktop. It’s also a good idea to jot down some thoughts and create something meaningful.
The desktop still needs tidying up. Otherwise, it’s hard to maintain any semblance of order. Haha, 233333.
Over the years, I've accumulated a lot of stuff. Fortunately, I live alone and am financially independent, so I can afford to splurge occasionally. My January purchases have actually motivated me to work harder. Young people, put in the effort and don’t overthink things. You’ll find someone eventually.
Headphones: QPAD QH-90
Three years ago, I watched the entire season of TI4. The NewBee team won the second DOTA2 International Invitational, marking another Chinese team victory. That’s when an old friend recommended these headphones to me. They’ve been reliable despite being a bit worn out. Now that I’m working full-time, I only use them occasionally for gaming or listening to music.
Closed-back headphones provide excellent sound insulation and comfort thanks to their soft protein ear cushions. While they’ve aged a bit—showing some light yellowing—they’re still quite comfortable. The detachable condenser microphone hasn’t been used much lately since I don’t play games as often. Occasionally, I’ll pick it up to answer calls or listen to music.
Listening to Ouyang Jing’s hip-hop songs, the sound field is balanced, with decent bass and clear instrument sounds. However, during hot summer days, they get sweaty quickly, so I don’t use them as frequently. These headphones use a 3.5mm interface and come with a removable extension cable, making them compatible with mobile devices.
SSK Reader:
Previously, I lost my card reader. Back in the day, transferring files via USB 2.0 wasn’t too slow, but now with USB 3.0, it’s much faster. I no longer have to wait around for transfers to finish.
Yuanxin Source Express 4 PORT HUB
This hub has held up well over the past two years. The 2.0 speed is now mainly used to connect my mouse and keyboard. Moving it around makes me realize how attached I’ve become.
Santen towering fx neo eye drops
During a visit to Aunt Zhang, I learned about her long-standing habit of using eye drops. They’re more expensive than those from Newtown, but worth it given the price difference. As someone who spends a lot of time typing, my eyes get tired easily. A drop or two a day helps alleviate the strain.
LEOPOLD FC900R PD Mechanical Keyboard
I recently upgraded to LEOPOLD’s FC900R PD version. Compared to my previous IKBC keyboard, which felt slightly sluggish, this one is far superior. While the price is steep, the tactile feedback is worth it. Otherwise, I’d feel like I’ve stagnated like a “backwater†Cantonese expression.
The keyboard is a classic narrow-bezel design. The black 104-key layout looks professional yet takes up a lot of desk space. I had considered starting with an 87-key model but decided against it. There’s no backlighting, just a subtle blue accent.
PBT double-shot keycaps make the characters clearer than before. The surface has a textured grain and is highly durable. I chose the green switches for a small room setting. They offer a strong tactile feedback and produce a crisp sound. Typing quietly at night isn’t boring.
Sometimes I adjust the angle of the keyboard to reduce finger fatigue. Maybe I should invest in better hand support. Haven’t thought much about it yet.
Razer Mamba Cobra 2015
I bought this mouse last year after the New Year holidays. It’s been a game-changer ever since. The performance is solid, even after over a year of use. DPI ranges from 16000 to 2000, plenty for a 2K screen. Adjustable weight settings range from 45g to 90g, offering 15 different configurations. Initially, I thought it was cool, but after testing, I found a sweet spot.
The mouse connects wirelessly and has a built-in rechargeable battery. The recessed trapezoidal charging dock allows for easy charging. When not in use, it can be stored neatly to save space.
The ergonomic design fits comfortably in my hand. The matte finish prevents slipping, and the side buttons are set to quick-access inventory shortcuts for gaming. The rubberized side grips improve handling. RGB lighting on the sides transitions smoothly and can be customized via software.
SteelSeries QcK mass mouse pad
My mouse pad is based on Scarlet’s QcK mass. At 6mm thick, it’s slightly elevated. The tightly woven fabric provides good glide and damping. The surface remains smooth, and the non-slip rubber backing ensures stability. Over time, the surface has developed some white dust, and there’s been minor delamination. Not a deal-breaker though.
MINISO Naked Bear Ceramic Cup (Almighty Polar Bear)
A simple white ceramic cup, affectionately known as the “all-round polar bear.†At first, I wanted a larger one, but after seeing it, I settled for this smaller size. It’s perfect for drinking water and tea. A coaster keeps the cup stable. Shopping in-store offers better prices compared to online platforms.
A clean desktop doesn’t have to be boring. Sometimes I envy others’ setups. Gradually, I’ll add more to mine. If you have any recommendations, feel free to share. It’s time for a break. Time for some water!
