Song Xiaogang: Market Orientation and Industry Application Promote Robot Development

September 24-25, under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Xinhua News Agency, Xinhua News Agency’s “National Weekly Finance”, the International Technology Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the China Enterprise Reform and Development Research Association co-sponsored 2016 Second “Made in China” The 2025 and Industry 4.0 Global Annual Conference was held at the Beijing National Convention Center. Executive Vice President of China Federation of Machinery Industry and Executive Director and Secretary-General of China Robot Industry Alliance Song Xiaogang attended the forum and gave a keynote speech in Parallel Forum One: "Frontier Trends - Future Comes, Insight Wins."

The following is a record:

Song Xiaogang: The topics that I want to share with you today are called market-oriented and industry applications to promote the development of the robot industry.

I would like to mention from the following aspects. One is that the robotics industry at home and abroad is developing rapidly and everyone is very concerned about it. The second is the brief history of the development of robots in our country. The third is the characteristics of the rapid development of robotics in China in recent years. The fourth is the direction and key tasks of development. This is also in combination with the 13th Five-Year Plan for robots that we just released in April. Five are some thoughts to share with you.

According to the statistics of the International Meteorological Federation and our China Robotics Industry Alliance, from 2000 to 2015, the global sales of robots are increasing at a rate of 14%. Since 2009, robots have developed at a rapid pace. From 2010 to 2015, the growth rate is higher than 14%. It should be said that Asia has played a leading role in this round of rapid development of international robots. From 2015, Asia’s overall robot sales volume is 16%, and other regions are clearly below this speed.

Looking back at China, China ranks among the top five countries in the world - China, South Korea, Japan, the United States, and Germany - and it is the fastest growing country. Since 2013, China has been the world's largest robot market and it has remained until 2015. So China's market accounts for nearly 30% of the global sales market.

This is the forecast made by the International Federation of Trade Unions in the second half of 2015. From 2015 to 2018, the global sales of industrial robots will increase by 15%. Many of our domestic robot companies also participated in this forecast. The forecast is divided into two parts. One is the analysis of the original data and the other is the survey of key enterprises.

From the perspective of service robots, these years have also been very hot. However, from the current seminars of many of our service robots, most of the experts believe that the service robots still belong to the early stage of industrialization. In general, technology and market are not yet very mature. Service robots are divided into professional and personal home service robots. Personal and home service robots are growing faster. In 2014, the sales volume of personal and home service robots was 28%. We expect that service robots will grow faster in the future as technology advances and costs drop. From the perspective of the industry itself, industrial robots are also an industry. Service robots are also an industry. The scale of service-oriented industries is surely larger than that of industrial robots.

The market sales speed of Chinese industrial robots has indeed increased very fast in recent years, but from 2009 to 2014, the growth of sales volume of our country's industrial robots has reached 60%. This growth rate should not be too optimistic because the data in 2009 shows that domestic robots The sales volume is probably less than 5,000 units. This high growth rate is on a very small base. So the speed will not be so fast in the future. For example, in 2015, our domestic industrial robots sold more than 22,000 units. Its growth rate has dropped to 31%, which is still a very high figure. But as I just said, this growth rate is actually in our relative base. Lower case.

Service robots have also been very hot these past few years. On the whole, domestic service robots also belong to the initial stage of industrialization. There are three main requirements for serving robots in China. The first one is about the upcoming social issues such as helping the elderly, helping the disabled and medical care. The population of our country’s aging population is very large. The second aspect is the country’s major needs, such as national defense, public security, disaster relief, and scientific investigations. It is a major demand for our country and the country also attaches great importance to it. The third is the three aspects of entertainment, education, and home for individuals and families. In recent years, our country has made rapid progress in technology R&D and demonstration applications. For example, Dajiang sold only one billion swept robots a day during the Singles Festival last year. In 2015, drone sales reached 300 million yuan, and this year it will exceed 600 million yuan, which is also relatively fast. Generally speaking, from our country's point of view, socio-economic development and the improvement of people's living standards, our country's service robot industry should be said to have great market space and prospects.
