Alibaba Cloud to Establish Data Center in India to Increase Asian Computing Resources

[Global Science and Technology Report] According to the "Economic Times" of India on June 11, Aliyun announced that it will set up its first data center in India early next year, and will cover more regions in the future to provide cloud computing services for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Alibaba Group stated that by March 31, 2018 Alibaba Cloud Data Center will be built in Mumbai, India, and another data center will be established in Jakarta, Indonesia. Hu Xiaoming, senior vice president of Alibaba Group and president of Alibaba Cloud, stated that establishing data centers in India and Indonesia will further consolidate Alibaba Cloud's position in the region and globally. Yu Yuncheng, vice president of Alibaba Cloud, also told the Asian News Agency in India that India is a potential market for cloud computing.

Together with the recently announced Malaysian data center, Alibaba Cloud will increase its computing resources in Asia and provide more support for SMEs throughout the region through powerful, scalable, secure and economical cloud capabilities. With the three new data centers planned to be established, the total number of data centers for Alibaba Cloud will increase to 17, covering China, Australia, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and the United States.
