Maintaining strong growth momentum, the production volume is about 350 million units, and the quarterly growth rate is 10.4%, a record high this year. According to the report, Huawei produced 32 million smartphones in the third quarter, with a quarterly growth of 10.3%, ranking third in the world. Although the dual-lens flagship model P9 was not as good as expected under other Chinese smartphone brands, Huawei's overall production volume continued to rise in the third quarter, driven by demand in the peak season.
Wu Yiting, a TrendForce smartphone analyst, said that in the third quarter, the number of Chinese branded smartphones reached 168 million, with a quarterly growth of 18%. It continued to surpass the total production of Samsung and Apple, and the role of the global shipment growth engine was firmly established.
Apple produced 45 million units in the third quarter. Although the iPhone 7 started to distribute a small amount of goods, it still showed a 5.3% quarterly decline, and its performance was not outstanding. While most of Apple's iPhone7 production is concentrated in the fourth quarter of this year, TrendForce estimates that the number of Apple iPhone production in the fourth quarter will show a leap.
In the third quarter, the number of Samsung smartphones was approximately 78 million, a small increase of 1.3%. This year, Samsung's smartphone production volume can still maintain a high water level similar to last year, mainly due to the cost-effective J (Junior) series of support shipment performance, high-end models Galaxy S7/S7 edge also performed well. However, in the short-term after the release of the new flagship Note 7 due to the unexpected shutdown of the explosion, it is likely to affect consumers' brand impression of Samsung mobile phones, and the subsequent shipment performance is worthy of continuous observation.
