As part of the 2016 MTV election campaign, MTV and Viacom collaborated to organize a political art show with VR as the main presentation. Eighteen artists participated in MTV's VR show on the social media with the theme "Open Your Eyes." They will showcase issues including gun violence, rape culture, climate change, immigration issues, etc. on htc vive and Google's TIlt Brush platform.
The art show was officially launched last Tuesday and will continue until election day. MTV will showcase their final work on social media in the “Elect This†session and encourage millennials to use art to express the topics they voted for this year.
MTV will share video interviews with artists on their final artwork. The artists will showcase the creative process behind their work and why this topic is so important to them. The works in the environment will also be displayed in a virtual immersive display, which can be viewed on the Sketchfab website via mobile phone, PC or personal VR device.
MTV calls on everyone to act on its "Open Your Eyes" event homepage and encourages viewers to share their work on the most important topics of their own.
In addition to the first presidential debate that took place at Hofstra University, "Open Your Eyes" was also rare in the White House South Lawn last month and was personally hosted by President Obama. In both live shows, participants were invited to use htc vive to experience these works of art, or to watch them in the form of video and photo gallery walls. During the exhibition at Hofstra University, the audience can even print the artwork with Gifpop lenses.
