STMicroelectronics has introduced a new comparator chip, the LMV331, which complements its lineup of industry-standard comparators in a compact package. The LMV331 offers customers a choice of 2.00 x 1.25mm SC70 and 2.90 x 1.60mm SOT23 packages.

Low-power comparators such as the LMV331 are primarily used in battery-powered portable devices such as laptops, PDAs, and other handheld mobile communications products, with signal processing or event detection. ST's industry-standard comparators enable designers to optimize power consumption, response time, and package size based on application requirements. ST's new LMV331 is available in a 5-pin micro package, providing designers with the choice of the best "speed-to-power ratio" in space-constrained applications.
