Give way: Intel is about to abandon 21 45nm processors

Intel recently announced to its partners that as many as 21 45nm process processors will be phased out of production in order to make way for the upcoming Sandy Bridge, most of which are products of the previous generation 45nm Penryn architecture.

The PDN of the high-end Extreme Quad Core i7-975X Extreme was released earlier this quarter and delisted (EOL) in the first quarter of next year. The favored mid-range four-core Core i5-750 will also be discontinued in the first and third quarters of next year respectively.

The Core 2 Quad Q9650 has already entered the production phase, and the Core 4 Quad Q9300/Q9505/Q8400 and other five previous-generation quad cores will soon follow suit. The dual-core is the Core 2 Duo E8600/E8500, followed by the Core 2 Duo E7500/E7600 and delisted in the fourth quarter.

In the dual-core Pentium family, the Pentium E6300 is already gone and the Pentium E5600 is not going to be available. The Pentium E5600/E6600 will also begin to enter production phase 1 in the first quarter of next year.

In the entry-level Celeron series, the Celeron E3200/E3300 will be shut down and delisted in the first and fourth quarters of next year.

In terms of new Sandy Bridge products, it is said that ten models will be released this year, including the four-core Core i7-2600/2500, Core i5-2400/2300, thermal design power consumption 95W, dual-core Core i3-2120/2100, Thermal design power consumption 65W, in addition there is only a 32W ultra-low power version Core i3-2100T, for Mini-ITX mini system and all-in-one PC.
