Amers Semiconductor Introduces Industry's First Complete Solution for Heart Rate Measurement of All-weather Wearable Devices

China, October 12, 2015 - Amys AG (SIX: AMS) , the world's leading provider of high-performance analog ICs and sensors, today announced the first health/fitness solution for wearable devices The product of the program - AS7000. The product includes highly integrated optical sensor modules and software that provides industry-leading high-precision optical heart rate measurement (HRM) and heart rate variation (HRV) measurements with the support of Amy's professional optical and mechanical design.

Housed in a compact 6.1mm x 4.1mm x 1.0mm package, the AS7000 is the industry's first fully integrated health/fitness solution for wearable wearable devices, whether resting or exercising. The introduction of this module has increased the market prospects for fitness bracelets and devices such as sports and smart watches, speeding up the design process and replacing the cumbersome and uncomfortable electrocardiogram (ECG) chest straps in casual, fitness and health monitoring applications.

Amers Semiconductor's solution AS7000 module includes multiple LEDs, photosensors, analog front ends (AFEs) and microprocessors as well as the algorithms needed to accurately measure HRM/HRV. In addition to HRM/HRV, the module also measures skin temperature and skin resistivity through an external sensor interface.

With expertise in optical sensing for mobile devices, Amers Semiconductor provides original equipment manufacturers with electrical, mechanical, and optical design guidance to enable rapid application. These design guidelines help solve key challenges in the optical-mechanical field, such as the design and material of the wristband and the layout. It also includes special optical design considerations such as air gap and glass thickness.

The operation of the AS7000 is based on photoplethysmography (PPG). Changes in the amount of blood flowing through the blood vessels during contraction and expansion of the heart cause expansion and contraction of the blood vessels to modulate the light, and the heart rate can be measured by measuring the modulated light. Unlike existing optical AFEs that produce raw PPG data, the AS7000 integrated microprocessor runs a special algorithm developed by Amers Semiconductor to convert PPG data into HRM and HRV values.

When the AS7000 is combined with an external accelerometer, the algorithm filters out the false heartbeat PPG signal caused by the motion. In addition, the low noise and high sensitivity of the AS7000 analog circuit means that the module maintains high accuracy regardless of whether the user is resting or exercising.

The AS7000's low-power design is ideal for fitness wristbands, smart watches, and board-constrained applications where users want a battery to charge for a few days.

Ronald TIngl, Senior Market Manager, Biosensors, Advanced Optical Solutions, Amers Semiconductors, said: "Ames Semiconductor's innovative technologies help reduce noise, eliminate motion disturbances and reduce energy consumption, creating breakthroughs in the health monitoring and fitness monitoring market. Sexual solutions. The complete solution from AS7000 is ideal for customers who want to add health/fitness features to wearable devices and speed time-to-market."

Amers Semiconductor is now available with a complete HRM/HRV wristband demonstration kit. The AS7000's fitness bracelet can be used to upload HRM and HRV readings to any smartphone or Android operating system tablet via the Bluetooth interface. The heart rate application developed by Amers Semiconductor provides HRM and HRV readings and saves the measured data in real time.
