Use of power surge protectors

As a professional power surge protector manufacturer in the United States, EFI Corporation is committed to surge protection in different global power grid environments and provides comprehensive and complete power surge protection products and systems. For EFI surge protector products used in China, we are very concerned about product usage and user satisfaction. In order to better serve our customers, we recommend that you pay attention to the following issues when selecting product models for the actual situation of China Power Grid:

1, the choice of voltage level:

China's low-voltage power grid adopts a 220/380V voltage class and should select a suitable product model when selecting an EFI power surge protector. There are two types of suitable product voltage levels in EFI products, which are 220/380V and 277/480V. For most areas where the grid voltage is stable, it is appropriate to choose a 220/380V grade product to provide the best surge protection effect.

However, for areas where the grid is unstable (such as townships, suburbs, or remote areas where the voltage fluctuation range is greater than 10%), a surge surge protector product with a higher voltage rating should be selected and the 277/480V product should be used. Otherwise, the 220/380V rated surge protector may not be operated reliably or abnormally due to the high power supply voltage. Because of long-time over-voltage operation, the protector's internal overheating causes premature internal device failure or damage.

If the customer needs a special voltage grade product, the product can be selected according to the situation of the power supply system, or consult with the China Customer Service Center.

2. EFI power surge protector should be installed and debugged according to the product installation instructions during installation and use. Note that the grounding wire of the three-phase power supply (or single-phase power supply) power supply system is reliably connected to the nearest electrical grounding system. The connecting wires should be as straight and short as possible and should not be intertwined to reduce the grounding resistance. Overcurrent protection devices (such as: automatic air switches, current fuses, etc.) shall be installed at the front end of the power protector, which is helpful for overhauling equipment and improving the operational reliability of the system.

3. For power supply in the same area, the detection results at different times may be different. It is recommended that the user should monitor the grid voltage before installation and use, and select the appropriate EFI product according to the highest voltage value of the monitoring data.
