As the first batch of architects who grew up after the “Cultural Revolution†in China, Tao Wei can be said to witness the development of China's entire modern construction industry. In the courtyard of the Huagong School of Architecture, Professor Tao shared with us the "reasons" in architecture, and also raised various problems in the Chinese construction industry.
Reporter: You are an architect and a professor. What problems do you think are the talents of domestic architects?
Tao Wei: There is indeed a gap between domestic architects and foreign architects. The gap begins with education. From small to large, all our learning is to get a ticket, primary school thinks about how to enter the key middle school, middle school thinks how to enter the key university, education lies in the purpose, but ignores the process. The cultivation of creative thinking is lacking, which leads to insufficient openness of thought and the foundation of philosophy. Many students who choose architectural majors are lacking in the most basic qualities. We must cultivate from the most basic aesthetic education. .
Western architects have a high starting point. They have seen many things from small to large, buildings, and daily necessities, all of which have a design taste, so they have a high vision from the beginning.
